On 7th November 2015, HAL had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IAHV agreeing to support the construction of recharge structures and planting of trees in two more mini-watersheds in the Kumudvathi basin.

Phase II is to be completed by March 2016, covering the watersheds of Tyamagondal and Mondigere, consisting of 43 villages. The agreed works include:

  • 168 boulder checks
  • 168 recharge wells
  • 20 recharge injection wells
  • 25 water pools
  • Planting of 10000 saplings!

 

Earlier this year, HAL supported the works of Phase I which were completed in March 2015. The focus of Phase I was Tavarekere, one of eighteen mini-watersheds. The works covered 4 Gram Panchayats and 11 villages and saw to the construction of:

  • 34 boulder checks
  • 34 recharge recharge wells
  • 7 recharge injection wells
  • 10 water pools
  • Planting of 5000 saplings

 

The HAL team was very impressed by the quality of the work and decided to sponsor two more mini-watersheds.
